Our latest Press Release 1-6-25
The Ushio FTA 12 watt 12 volt halogen lamp #1000615 has been discontinued after "President Biden" reinstated the incandescent ban that "President Trump" overturned the original presidential order from "President Obama" to ban all incandescent lamps.
I have known this was coming for the past 8 years and began development back in 2019.
There was no MR-11 LED on the market with the right size, color, beam spread, or heat rated to be inside an enclosed fixture like mine.
A little over a year ago, Cree introduced Pro 9 phosphor, that had a 25% performance gain with a Safe Spectrum, with very little blue light hazzard.
We securred a small batch of chips and found we could get more light than the original halogen FTA lamp and run it at a 700 MA, and the chip temperature was 55C, far below the manufacturers recomended max temperature of 85C.
I started building in April 2024 and built 1000 units. production is slow I All lamps are now tested for 24 hours to insure quality. For replacement lamps we are using the Khatod narrow optics and “new lights” will be using a Khatod linear lens to eliminate the glass skytex lens used for halogen. It’s quite a challenge to learn the electronics and LED lessons, but I had no choice after Ushio quit importing halogen. The new lamps currently sell for $ 45.00 each and I have discovered a few ways to deal with dimming. (attached) I’m still working on the webpage for more information.
